On Thursday (August 11) I will be starting a 'History of the Morgans of Tredegar'. It is rather ambitious, but I intend to rattle through the centuries by featuring each Morgan known to have owned Tredegar, or lived there. The way this blog works is that every post gets registered as a single web page in search engines. So, therefore, by the end of the series, every Morgan who owned Tredegar, will have their own web-page, where comments can be left, and questions asked about their life.
The first Morgan featured will be Morgan ap Meredudd (Meredith) who owned Tredegar in the early decades of the 14th century. Hopefully, the series will end with John Morgan, 6th Baron Tredegar, who died childless in 1962.

Hello! I would love to purchase or read your own on the MOrgans who owned the Tredegar House. I am a descendant of Col Morgan Morgan who was born in Glamorganshire in 1688 and died in Bunker Hill Virginia (now West Virginia) in 1766. I have many generations back from him, but do not know how accurate they are. Many records say these ancestors lived or were born in Tredegar. My father is going to visit the house in early May and I would like to give as much information as possible to him as to whether it looks like we are directly descended from a master of the red brick or older stone castle. I am not yet done searching your site, but if you ahve anything to share, I would love to see it! I can share the records I have, too.
My husband is a NJ (USA)Morgan, and descends from Miles Morgan of Bucks County PA b 1801; son of Isaiah Morgan b 1764 Bucks County PA, probably son of Samuel Morgan b. c 1739, who is likely son of James Morgan b. 1715. We don't have them back into the Old World.

I just found your site. My ex-husband, whose hobby is geneaology, has been researching the Morgans. My ancestor is Sir William Morgan, the Morgan who received Charles I at Tredegar House. I am the 8th great-granddaughter on my mother's side of the family, and my middle name is Morgan. What relationship are you to the Morgans and is the Tredegar house open for tours? I know my brother and I would love to come and see our ancestral home. Our family has always been interested in British/Welsh history and now I know why. About 25 years ago, I was in Wales. This is incredible! Thanks to my distant cousin in England, I have gotten alot of info on the Morgan family. Cexcee (alias Mary) Morgan, who married James Giles, immigrated to the USA (Pittsburgh, PA) in 1851. Cexcee's line goes back to Ieuan (Jevan) Morgan. So cool that Sir John Morgan, Knight of of the Holy Sepulchre, was involved with the Tudors and helping Henry VII. Regards, Don
